In a day it is easy to take a leisurely stroll from east to west through all of central Hamburg. Amidst the harbor and bustle, we can sum up our time there in a series of anecdotes which we think give a pretty good idea of Hamburg.
- Hundreds of people lined up outside of Abercrombie and Fitch. We assume it just opened. We hope.
- A clown mime riding a bicycle through a park honking his nose at the people he passes.
- Thousands of kids in a spectacle of playground equipment: Trampolines, sand yards, mini-golf, and anything else you can think of that would entertain a tot.
- “Sex: 39 euros.” A sign in the red light district. At least they are straightforward.
- Two guys at an outdoor cafe exchanging their pants. (Not related to the above)
- Dozens of fishmongers selling their wares by beating the filets and berating customers.
- A beach bar complete with sand, lounging chairs and cold beer – facing their industrial harbor
Hamburg doesn’t make a lot of sense, but it is pretty hilarious.
