2. Sietefincas Chardonnay

sietefincas chardonnay

sietefincas 2008 Chardonnay (~$9)

Adam says: Smells faintly of caramelized onions
Cara says: That’s because you’re cooking onions. It has notes of banana, pineapple and citrus.
Adam says: You’re reading the label.
Cara says: But it’s in Spanish. I’m practicing.

Seriously, it’s a lightly oaked, dry white. We had low expectations for white wine in Argentina, especially a white wine not known for its happiness at being grown 2000 feet above sea level. However this wine is subtle, coats the throat, and is a lovely light golden color. Served with caramelized onion and asparagus pasta. A quick search online to see if this wine will be available at home revealed a website for the liquor store down the block where we bought it. No, we can’t buy this in California, let alone Pittsburgh.
